Charlie was so excited she was practically skipping. Finally. Someone who spoke her language. She loved Sam and Dean, and she adored Cas. She was even growing quite fond of Lee and her protective feelings over Legolas were getting a bit ridiculous, all in all. But none of them really spoke, well, geek. None of them could understand the beauty of multilayer dual firewall topology or the subtle power of magnetic resonance. If what Tony had said was true, he not only understood it, but he had fully functioning Muon beams. That was the kind of thing she’d read about in Wired but who in the real world ever got to see something like that up close and person? If he was bullshitting her it was going to be the disappointment of the lifetime. In all honesty, she only had a layman’s understanding of the whole concept, high school drop out that she was. But she’d always been smart. She’d been picking up electronics and taking them apart practically since she could walk, and with something like this, that smacked of comic book superheroes or Star Trek awesomeness...oh she was totally there. He’d asked her to bring her toys and she did, though it was a disappointingly small assortment. She had the EMF reader she’d built herself, largely useless in this place. She had her phone from which she’d removed all safety measures only to discover there was nothing in it to actually hide. Feeling that these toys were fairly inadequate for show and tell, she also grabbed one of her extra hex bags. He might be up on the tech side of life but he clearly needed an education in the supernatural, just like she had, and she had a feeling that she’d be a lot better at that than Sam and Dean had been. They hadn’t exactly been gentle, but then, that was part of their charm. Gruff and loveable, but also somewhat terrifying. Yeah, that pretty much summed them up. Stepping up to the door marked “Tony Stark,” Charlie took a deep breath to try and calm down the excitement before lifting her hand and tapping out a knock to the first bit of “Shave and a haircut.” |
