Rogers had to admit, he was a bit surprised about being put into a shared room with a woman. He was no stranger to shared sleeping arrangements; there certainly hadn't been a lot of privacy during the war. But that was different, and while he'd gotten over his shy ineptitude and his real inability to speak to women since his first fumbled attempts at conversation with Peggy Carter, he still couldn't help but feel a little bit awkward about sleeping in a bed next to one he'd never really met before. He had no idea what the proper etiquette for something like that might be, and so he'd put off going to the room as long as possible.
Being in Vegas made that easy, it was certainly a city that never slept. Being a super solider made it even easier: he could generally get by on fewer hours than most people. But the strange trip to this place and the excitement of being here did catch up to him soon enough, and before long, he was starting to think about his bed in room 3616 a bit too fondly to justify sitting at the casino bar and ordering cherry sodas any longer.
He'd hoped that Misty would be asleep when he got there, dawn was just an hour or two from breaking when he finally unlocked the room door. He slipped into their shared bathroom and got changed quickly before sneaking across the floor of the suite and pulling down the hotel blankets to get into bed. He was out like a light the second his head hit the pillow.
But he didn't get to sleep very long.
Just a few hours later, the sensation of something being on his face brought him around. At first, a bit hazy, he though he'd imagined the feeling or that he was somehow still caught up in the remnants of a dream before the flicker of a tongue along the side of his nose shot him to his senses. He sat up abruptly and watched in surprise as a lizard tumbled down his chest and landed in a disoriented heap in the blankets now at his waist. He blinked, just about as confused as the reptile, before he scooped it up into his hand, carefully tucking his fingers under the creature's chin and got out of bed.
He then realised he had absolutely no idea what to do with it. Standing there, in a T-shirt and shorts he looked around the room. He thought, first, that the lizard might have crawled in from outside, but he wasn't exactly going to go tramping through the halls to set it free now and they were up too high for him to feel good about letting it out the window. Then, he thought maybe the lizard... belonged to his roommate. He bit his lip. He knew, growing up, that Bucky used to catch frogs in the park and use them to scare the girls they went to school with, and if this animal didn't belong to her, that wasn't the first impression he wanted to make. So, holding it behind his back, he cleared his throat and looked at the foot of Misty's bed, not wanted to be so disrespectful as to look at her.
"Excuse me, um, excuse me, Miss? Are you -- are you awake? I'm sorry, but I seem to have a... problem." The lizard wriggled in his hands and he hoped he wasn't holding it too tightly.
