Thanksgiving Dinner had taken a lot of work to prepare, between cooking all of the food and decorating the ballroom for the occasion. Quite a few inhabitants had worked together to set up one long table that would seat everyone in case they wanted to attend in the middle of the room while a second set of tables had been lined up against the wall as a buffet station. There was plenty of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, asparagus, green beans, and cranberry sauce to represent traditional Thanksgiving fare, but there was also duck, yams, baked sweet potatoes, salmon, lima beans, peas, and about four different kinds of gravy for everyone to choose from. Fresh baked bread and a simple mixed salad topped off the spread that a lot of work had gone into creating. The ballroom was decorated in warm, festive tones to compliment the beige color of the walls. There was a dark brown tablecloth over the large set table, the china borrowed from one of the restaurants now that the staff was back and things were open. Some homemade decorations served as centerpieces for both tables, which quite a few people chipped in to help make. Overall, it was looking to be quite successful and, at the very least, there would be plenty of leftovers for everyone. |
