It had been well over a month since Selina had arrived here, and she didn’t much care for this place. On one hand, it was pretty nice to live in relative anonymity. But on the other, she was quite bored most of the time. She really needed to work on talking to more people, but she wasn’t a social butterfly or anything like that. For a long time, Selina only looked out for herself and for a few friends. Meeting Bruce Wayne, and everything they’d gone through had changed all that. She was a very different person now, and she was still changing.

They hadn’t been able to help anyone get back home. And they hadn’t discovered the mystery of this place either. Selina knew Bruce had to be frustrated about that. How could he play the hero when there was little to no information? No one had stepped forward to claim responsibility for this. And people came and went at an alarming rate. Over 100 people had disappeared over the course of two nights. That probably wasn’t good. Like others, Selina hoped they’d been sent home. They had no way to know for sure, though.

She was meeting Bruce for breakfast. Though she was bored a lot of the time, this place could also be very crazy. It seemed like there was always something new happening. She tried to stay out of most of it. But she did wonder what would be next, and would they be able to do anything about it? It was clear that they were all here for a reason, it was just that so far, no one knew what that reason was. And anything could happen here. That was a frightening thought in itself. She tried not to think about it too much, as she sat at the table, sipping her coffee and picking at a cranberry orange muffin.

"You look as frustrated as I am." Bruce commented, raising an eyebrow as he looked at her between sips of his coffee. Oh, there was not a lot that frustrated him more than a total lack of concrete information, but he'd indeed hit an absolute brick WALL here. Which made dealing with this all the harder.

"Talk to me, Selina. You know it's not good for you to hold all this in. Besides... dark and brooding is kind of my thing." He teased, a light smirk on his lips, trying to lighten her mood just a bit.

Selina smirked a bit at his comment. "And we wouldn't want you to have any competition." She joked. It was just difficult to be trapped somewhere like this. Especially with no answers. At least when Gotham had been held hostage, there'd been a mad man behind it, a bad guy to stop. Here, she was at a loss. So maybe that made her a little more dark and twisty than usual.

"Not really holding it in, just don't even know where to start." She commented. "I thought we'd be out of this by now. Or at least have some kind of answers." And of course, they had neither. It could have been worse though, she knew that. "And all of those people just disappearing..." She shook her head. It wasn't fun to think about.

"That's been the worst part for me. The lack of answers. Usually, I can find a way to figure anything out... but this? All I can come up with is a series of hypothetical theories that all seem grounded in truth, but all seem far beyond what we know as POSSIBLE."

He sighed, before letting out a frustrated laugh. "Of course, with everything we've seen here so far, I don't really know that we can count anything as impossible anymore..."

He wasn't good at saying things like this... but he was just glad she was there with him. Her mere presence gave him hope and strength even when he thought he had none left.

"Hasn't really been a picnic for me either." Selina agreed. It was beyond frustrating. They had to basically play a waiting game here. She didn't like it, so she had to find things to do to occupy her time. Even in a city like Vegas, it wasn't always easy for a girl like Selina. She was doing her best, but she needed to find something more to do. And soon.

"No, I would wager anything could happen here." She nodded, taking another small sip of her coffee. So much had happened already. "And we all like to think those people went home, but how do we know for sure?" She asked. They didn't know. It was just better to think they went home than the alternative. And it had been so many of them, all at once.

He nodded at her statement about the others being sent home. He'd been thinking similar thoughts himself, although that was to be expected with how much of a pessimist/realist he tended to be. A chill ran through him as he briefly thought of how he'd feel if Selina were to vanish. While he wasn't the type to SAY it... he did love her dearly.

He reached over to cup her chin, looking into her eyes with an intensity that clearly said what his mouth was unable to: she was his everything.

As it happened, Selina was very fond of Bruce. She used to only care about herself and a few other people, but he'd changed that in her. He'd made her realize things could be different. That things were worth fighting for. She couldn't go back to the person she was before. So if Bruce needed help, she was right there by his side.

As he cupped her chin, she looked at him with such adoration. If they had to be here, she was glad they were here together. It was much better than if either of them had been on their own. People here needed help, and she hoped they could help them.

Selina kissed him back, resisting the urge to roll her eyes about the costumes. "Oh did you?" She supposed skintight black on a great body did look really good. "And here I thought you'd be the most excited about helping people again." She teased, a smirk playing at her ruby red lips. She'd all but forgotten about breakfast at this point.

"Oh... helping people is nice, don't get me wrong..." He teased, trying his best to sound whimiscal but serious. "But it's not all that important when compared to how your behind looks in tight leather. Just a fact."

Heh. Really, she was one of the only people in the world that ever got to see this cheeky, playful side of him. Oh, he could turn it on when he needed to, but she was one of the few that got to see it when he actually MEANT it.

"My God, did you just make a joke?" She teased. Bruce could often be too serious for his own good. It was nice to see him lightening up a bit, she had to say. Their situation here was pretty tough, but it could always be worse. They both knew that. And maybe they'd be able to at least protect the people here, if they couldn't get them back home.

"We've been here for over a month now." She pointed out. She didn't think it would have been so long. "And still no one remotely has answers. It seems like the only way back is if we're sent back. But as far as places to be, I've been to worse ones." She was a firm believer in making the most of this, while they were here.

"How sad IS it when we get kidnapped and stuck in some extra-dimensional fascimile of Vegas... and it's still better than being in Gotham?" He asked with a bit of mirth in his voice. Still... he DID feel a little better know that at least they could try to protect the people still here.

"What I need to figure out is why these people are randomly vanishing. Is there a reason? Were they sent home? Was it their choice? Answers to ANY of that would be a good start."

Selina nodded. He was right about that. It was better than Gotham. Then again, almost anywhere was. Even if it was their home, technically. She had been glad to leave with him and go start over somewhere. A quiet life hadn't ever been something she thought she'd have, but she wanted it with him. Now they were here, but still had managed to stay in relative obscurity. That was good, she supposed.

"I don't even know where to start." Selina said, as she finished off her coffee. "People have been here even longer than we have, and they don't know what to think either." Someone had to be pulling the strings here, but who was it...and why? Sometimes she didn't even want to think about it. But she was unwilling to accept that they would never have answers.

His next words would come off as arrogant to most... but she knew him well enough to know he was merely being honest. "What really frustrates me is... I'm one of the most efficient detectives in the world. The fact that I can't crack even part of this shows that there's clearly something beyond human going on here."

And really, that was the crux of the problem. He was getting frustrated by his inability to be his usual genius self here.

She nodded again. He was very, very good at what he did. There was absolutely no denying that. But what was happening here, was a mystery that even he couldn't solve. He was right to be frustrated about it. She was frustrated about it too. It could hardly be helped in a situation like the one they were in now.

"Well, don't beat yourself up about it, Bruce." She told him, gently. "Obviously it's going to take a lot more time to even begin to uncover what's going on here." No one had the answers, so she knew he wasn't the only one frustrated about it all.

"Loathe as I am to say it.... I think I'm going to need help." Heh. Yes, that was seriously a big deal for him to say. Bruce Wayne HATED admitting there was anything he couldn't do by himself.

Still... he knew he had to start doing things a little differently if they were going to get through this. And part of that was going to be learning to temporarily let things go when he hit a brick wall. So he took a moment, before taking her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it in a manner that, while a gentlemanly gesture, was laced with pure desire.

"Since no answer appears imminent... I can think of ways we could clear our minds.... unwind for a bit..."
