Game-wide events on the horizon!
Welcome, cats and kittens, to the beginning of Pax’s holiday season! After a month of relative rest, October will see the return of strange goings-on in the building, its tenants, and the world beyond. Some of these events will be outlined below, while the details of others will be relayed only to those brave enough to volunteer for the juiciest parts. Writers may volunteer as few or as many of their characters as they like, for one or more events; how involved you choose to get is up to you. There’s no cap on volunteers, so the more the merrier! With some notable exceptions (heavily group plot-oriented in nature), the details of these events will be up to you, the players. Feel free to use the prompts and timetable below to get a jump start on scenes, whether via thread or GDocs. We hope October will be a busy time for all of us!
Without further ado, October’s events!
Note that the effects listed below are cumulative. This means that all the listed events and occurrences build on one another, growing stronger with time, and that one week’s effects do not necessarily have to end when another week’s begin. Let these prompts work for you: If you prefer to torment your character over a period of weeks rather than days, or have him/her feel the lingering aftershocks of an event on the 2nd well into November, you’re certainly welcome to!
1-10 Oct
Characters will begin experiencing intense dreams relating to their deities. These dreams may have lingering effects upon waking; characters may experience waking dreams or visions as an aftereffect, or may speak as their deities did in these dreams. Characters’ abilities will begin to flicker, shutting off and on at random, surging or waning at unexpected intervals, outside the characters’ control.
Volunteers welcomed for additional events.
11-20 Oct
On Tuesday, 11th October, the full Hunter’s Moon rises, signaling the month’s first tangible stirring of the gods. Characters will begin experiencing flickering transformations: At first these may manifest as partial transformations, altering only one or two minor aspects of appearance, personality, or mien; as time wears on, these transformations may become more erratic or potentially dangerous, or become longer in duration. No full transformations should occur during this time.
Volunteers welcomed for additional events.
21-30 Oct
CASKET is a space owned by the human manifestation of Baron Samedi, a Loa of the Crossroads. While the Baron’s association with the dead is probably his best-known, the Crossroads are an integral part of that, as the residents of Pax will discover. After a week of flickering in and out of their god-selves, the tenants of Pax will find that when they set foot in CASKET, they’re definitely not in Kansas anymore. The precise details of how this will affect the tenants remains to be seen, but rest assured it's a party they won't want to miss...
31 Oct
Following a catastrophic event (to be posted on Monday, 31st October), characters will experience full transformations. Deities will begin completely taking over their human hosts; weaker vessels, those with least quarrel with their deities’ control, and those whose arrival at Pax is most recent will be most quickly and thoroughly overwhelmed. Characters’ abilities will be significantly heightened in this state: They will not be able to act outside the purview of their expressed abilities, but they will be able to operate at peak efficiency of stated skills. PCs and NPCs alike may be killed in the course of this. Natural disasters and other city-wide events caused by this should be run by the mods first; otherwise, let your freak flags fly, and show us some fireworks!
Volunteers, this is your time to really shine! We have big, big plans for those of you who throw your hat in here...
Understand that full transformations take a toll on the human host. Over time the mortal vessel will weaken and become unstable; recovery times grow exponentially the longer the deity is in full control. In answer to this, as the god-self begins in equal parts causing and sustaining this damage, the human host may reassert itself without conscious effort, resulting in pain and damage to them both. At worst, it may drive the deity entirely out of its host, leaving both lessened for it. Godhood is not a mantle to be worn lightly.
To sign up, comment below by Sunday, 1st October with the character/s you want to volunteer and the event/s you want to participate in. As always, if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns, don’t hesitate to comment here or email us and let us know.
