Re: Hallway / Lia & Alexander
Samuel had quite a few comments sitting at the tip of his tongue, each one vying for his first and strongest attention. His annoyances of the moment - in no order of importance that he could discern - included, but were almost certainly not limited to, being at a party bereft of a drink, being kept from being able to rectify same, and being forcibly introduced to a pretentious looking penthouse-dweller who showed far, far too much interest in his girlfriend for his liking. He vaguely recognized the man's name first from an initial, long-winded forum post, and second from a sneeringly worded response to Samuel's inquiry on the booze of the evening. A man who chose wine over liquor, in Samuel's opinion, was simply not to be trusted.
"Alex," Samuel said, quirking a grin that did not wholly reach his eyes: There was far too much appraisal and judgment crowding them for that. "Like Steig Larsson, Dan Brown kinda 'great' author, or like Vonnegut, Elmore Leonard kinda great." It sounded more like an assessment than a true question, though in reality Samuel's opinion of his new neighbor - such as it was - was based solely on first impressions, rather than any familiarity with Alexander's work itself.
