Loki's surprise as his companion began to fade into the shadows was surpassed only when she began to talk of gods. He certainly had not spoken of being a god, or of of suspecting that she was one. (At least, he hoped that she was. The alternative was that she too was a monster of some sort.) At any other time, such a revelation would have been enough to abandon, or at least question, Melinoe. Now, as he looked up at the side of the building, he decided there were bigger fish to fry.
"I have nothing that can help us here," he admitted. "Unless..." He stepped forward, slightly, and called up at the creature. "Hail! Well met! If you should be so kind as to..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the creature on the building screamed and something from further along their path screamed back. And then something else. Loki felt the blood drain from his face as the night was filled with the sound of shrieks. And then the thing on the building moved.
