"A packing peanut?" The guess was probably more influenced by Richard's recent experiences with cardboard boxes than by any actual possibility that any sane person would dress as a piece of plastic. On the other hand, as they had worked their way through the crowd Richard was pretty sure he had seen someone dressed as a soda can. Maybe his guess was on the money.
"Really, I'd guess homeless person, though. People seem to think they live in cardboard boxes." He took a drink and tried to gauge the appropriate sitting-distance from Lucy. The whole body-language factor was a delicate art in dating, and one that was all too easy to ignore. He propped an arm on the couch back and turned a little to face her, hopefully leaving enough personal space between them to make her comfortable but still suggesting a private space.
