He didn't even need to take a moment to answer the question; the answer was clear to him. "Good," Paul replied, meaning it sincerely. "Tons better." He didn't need to bring up the way the weirdness of the past few days had affected him, versus the change now - that was already apparent.
Nor did he need to bring up how being around her was like being near the sea - calming, soothing, refreshing. Something which made him feel rejuvenated and hopeful. It was probably too early to put that into words, lest he wanted her to leave him a text message canceling their date because she had to wash her hair.
