She looked sympathetic enough when he talked about a weird few days. "Yeah, the earthquake came out of nowhere, right?" Cass wasn't bothered by earthquakes anymore. They've been pretty commonplace all her life. But it was a little weird that scientists had been completely blindsided by it. It only made her shrug. Weirder things had happened.
"I was just going to a walk outside. The sun's out. Thought it might be nice to stretch my legs a little. Dip my toes if the mood struck." Not wanting to be rude she asked, "Want some company? Or are you sick of me already, after our first week of working together?" She hoped that her smile showed she wouldn't be offended if he told her he'd rather be alone. She wouldn't mind either way but she figured she'd at least offer.
