Charlie only ever shopped for clothing when it was absolutely necessary - if her jeans were suddenly sporting holes or her boots were falling apart, then she would spend the necessary money to ensure that her wardrobe wasn't going to leave her butt naked in front of society at large. She caught his gaze going to her bag, and quickly dropped the arm holding it to her side, moving the packaging behind her leg a little. Embarrassed? Not necessarily, but something in her mind told her that letting Elias see what was in it wasn't something she wanted.
And now he was asking for her opinion. Charlie's mouth gaped a little, uncomfortable and unsure about giving advice in any arena. The only person she'd ever gotten to know well enough to buy presents for were the Ekholms, and even then she'd never had enough money to really get anything extravagant beyond flowers or a card. For Rylee she'd gone the extra distance for his latest birthday, but that was making up for four years.
"Uh..." The word broke the silence and underscored the stare that met Elias' face. One hand rose to scratch at her head, the small movement another form of excuse to help her decide what the hell to say.
"Who...I mean, who are yah shoppin' fer? I mean...I dunno, I..." She glanced around, wide eyed. The whole reason she'd even come here was to buy delicates for certain occasions. She didn't honestly care too much for any of the styles of clothing present - she was very much a T-shirt and jeans kind of girl, something simple and to the point, something that wouldn't snag in a fight - and the ridiculously low-cut shirts and skirts in this section weren't really her style.
"I mean...there are some nice leather jackets...but I mean, like I said, depends on who...." Her words continued to stumble out, quickly highlighting on the one thing that she'd taken note of. Since fall and winter were impending, the stores were laying out their thicker jackets and coats. One section had proffered women's jackets made of leather that felt like butter. Her own jacket, though still whole, was getting a little threadbare around the edges, but Charlie wouldn't give it up until absolutely necessary.
