James smiled and closed the door behind them. Turning to Lucy, he slipped a hand in his jeans pocket and rocked on his feet slightly. "She loved the flowers. Thank you so much for helping me put the bouquet together."

This should have raised a red flag for James, he was admitting he had needed her help. To admit help was admitting a weakness, a lack of knowledge, but for whatever reason during the two times he had met Lucy, he found himself acting completely different. Maybe even a little nicer.

Turning towards his living room, he waved a hand to Lucy, beckoning her to follow him. He shut off the tv before sitting back down on the only couch in the room. Scooting to the end, he made room for Lucy to sit down as well. "I'm doing all right. Just relaxing. I have an oddball day off so he caught me at a good time. It's nice that you came down to visit," James commented with a larger smile. A comment that he meant with all of his heart. Normally he hated surprise visitors, aside from Alex who was always welcome, but James was finding himself more and more happy to see his new friend.
