On her part, Vanessa touched up her hair and makeup, glad she had the chance to do so once she saw how much her mascara had run during her strange fit of tears. She had also had the insight to call a cab, telling them to try and be there in fifteen minutes, and to please not leave if they weren't out there right away. With cabs here that was easier said than done, that was one aspect she dearly missed about New York City, there had been a cab on every street corner, even in the boroughs. In fact, the more she thought about New York, the more she missed it, and she suddenly became more determined than ever to never leave Newport, not for some silly romantic trouble anyway.
After fifteen minutes had passed, Vanessa grabbed her purse and went downstairs to meet Richard, smiling his way. She peeked out the lobby door and saw the cab she had called, indeed waiting. "Well that's us!" Vanessa headed outside and into the cab, telling him the name of the restaurant and it's downtown address.
