Love is wrapped around my heart like a boa constrictor
Who: Karin, Fiona, and Sean
What: Effects of October! Sean gets constricted in two different ways during a yoga class.
Where: Yoga Studio and then Pax?
When: October 5th
Warnings: None as of yet
Yoga class had been interesting, to say the least. He was halfway through the class when his leg suddenly started to cramp up. If he had been overdoing it and participating in too many classes today, he would've understood, but it was the first class of the day, and it was an introduction class. He tried to ignore the pain, which usually worked. He was just in a sitting pose, one he never ever got leg cramps from. Back when he was a beginner his leg would cramp from time to time, but he just pushed the pain away, and it stopped, at least partially. He would stand up and have a leg that was asleep, but that was it. This was different, it felt as if his leg was being put in a vice and someone was slowly turning it so that it was tighter, and tighter and tighter. Sean did his best to work through the pain, but the agony in his face definitely showed. It was pretty impossible to do the active poses when it felt like his leg had a tourniquet on it. He tried to casually looked down while the students were in warrior 2, and he didn't see any bug bites, bruises, or sign that his leg was being squeeze. It looked completely normal. Was this all in his head?
A few poses too soon, Sean called for everyone to get into a relaxation pose of his or her choice, instead of assigning a specific relaxation pose. The introduction class only had another week or two before it graduated to the beginner level, so thankfully they had been taught a few different poses. Sean got into an inversion pose. He went to the nearest wall and scooted up as close to it as he could manage, putting his legs up flat against the wall, his behind touching the bottom base of the wall, arms out and spread. This helped blood circulate through his legs and throughout his entire body, at least it was supposed to, but Sean felt absolutely no different. Great. He closed his eyes and attempted to work through the pain, if only for appearance sake. Just as he was starting to be able to ignore the throbbing pain, he found himself short of breath. It started subtly at first, Sean found himself breathing quicker, not being able to take deep steady conscious breaths. However, very quickly Sean found that no matter how hard he tried, it felt as if he couldn't get enough air. Sean instantly went down from the relaxation pose and went to his mat, taking a long drink of water, as if that would magically help. What was going on here? Where had this all come from? As Sean drank water, he found the pain subsiding and his ability to be able to breath slowly coming back to him. There was something eerie about the whole thing, especially since it seemed to just disappear, as if it had never been a problem.
Sean dismissed his class and calmly as he could, ensuring that they cleaned up. He left his mat and things in the classroom and went out to the front desk area where he kept his cell phone. He pulled it out and texted Karin: "Are you around?? I need to talk to someone. I'll come home if you're around."
