In truth Samuel found the morsel quite juicy indeed. Samuel's line of work had not lent itself to the most optimistic of views where human nature was concerned; he felt certain that if Richard would have done such a thing then - and to a friend, no less - he would surely do that or worse still. Oddly, but perhaps not surprisingly, this endeared him all the more to Samuel, even as it solidified in his mind the knowledge that this newcomer could not be trusted. He liked this man, as he liked anyone who saw what they want and seized it, though he would not be so foolish as to believe that destructive creativity could never be turned upon him. He filed this away as a red-lettered mental note, then brusquely moved on.
"I wanna ask why, but maybe that'll be a follow up question," he said, laughing. "So my turn. Truth."
