"Yeah, that sounds like a plan," Dominic responded to Richard, although them actually getting the frame upstairs in a timely fashion was not something that seemed likely to happen. But they might as well get things started while Vanessa traded her heels in for shoes with better grips and contacted the closest pizza parlor. He was liking the idea of pizza afterwards--or during--more and more, despite his general aversion to what he considered to be junk food.
Dominic moved to help Richard, working on one of the other bungee cords. He talked as he did so, trying to alleviate the otherwise somewhat awkwardness of the situation. It didn't hurt to try and get to know his neighbor a little bit, even if they hadn't met under the most pleasant circumstances.
"What brought you to Newport Beach? I can't imagine moving often if I had to haul a trailer like this around," he said carefully, not wanting to put too much emphasis on how he honestly thought it was a bad idea (a mover's truck would have been a lot more convenient).
