I am Jack's cold sweat.
Who: Benjamin and Luc
What: Someone needs a job. Someone else is willing to help.
Where: D1
When: right after this conversation.
Warnings: Other than Ben's internal monologue, none yet.
Notes: TBD

Twenty minutes later found Benjamin standing before the door to D1, trying to calm his jangling nerves. It had already taken him forever to find a pair of slacks and a shirt that properly straddled two different borders: casual and non, masculine and feminine.

He'd intended to aim for more masculine, but the only shirt that had looked right just so happened to be lilac, and he'd been distracted from looking through his still-packed bags by the realization that he hadn't seen his straightening iron since he moved. More specifically, he hadn't seen it since April, when his cousin Sandy had borrowed it to prepare for a school dance. Not a problem in Ohio, where his hair generally obeyed his every whim with minimal fuss. In California however, something in the climate did horrible things such as make his naturally wavy hair prone to disagree with any hairstyle other than 'down'.

The fruitless search for the missing appliance had eaten up the majority of the time, leaving him with enough left to wrangle his hair into a ponytail and throw on the ankle boots he'd worn earlier before running out the door with his folder.

He'd even forgotten to wash off his make-up, something Benjamin only realized when he was raising his hand to knock on the other man's door. Briefly he considered running back to remove it, but decided against it in interests of punctuality. True, Luc hadn't given him a set time, but it still wouldn't speak well of his time management skills to make the other man wait all day. Besides, he'd gone for the natural look today anyway.

Benjamin took a deep breath to calm his nerves, plastered a very sincere-looking smile on his face, and knocked on the door to D1.

Thankfully, Luc's apartment was (mostly) clean, so there wasn't much for him to do aside from tie up the loose ends of the song he was working on. It was a task easier said than done (especially once Luc got on a roll, like he was on now) and before he knew it he had lost twenty minutes and was now hearing a knock at his door.

"Fuck me," Luc swore under his breath, pushing himself away from the piano in the living room. He glanced at himself in the mirror he passed on the way to the front door (strategically placed, of course, for situations just like this one), smoothing down his wine-red t-shirt he had on over some charcoal gray cargo shorts - and barefoot, too. How professional.

He padded towards the door, raking a hand through his hair to tame it somewhat before opening the entry.

"Mr. Morgan," he smiled in greeting, and it was almost a little bashful as he stepped aside to allow the younger man to come in. "You'll have to forgive me - I got a little caught up in what I was doing, and forgot that I was expecting you." He laughed and made a vague gesture towards the piano topped with stacks of sheet music and notes. "It's a good thing I already had pants on."

Shutting the door, he moved past Benjamin towards the wet bar. "I hope you brought a resume," he added with a slight chuckle, because he'd forgotten to mention it to the other man - and though it seemed something obvious when seeking a job, Luc himself had been known to space out on obvious things himself sometimes. And weirder things had happened.
