One of Cat's skills was uncorking wine bottles, and she did so efficiently and gracefully before pouring the rich red into each of their glasses. She returned Rylee's smile, and relaxed somewhat at the subject change. The night of the blackout only reminded her of Elias, which only reminded her of his grand display of affection, which only reminded her of how over-harsh she'd been - probably been in rejecting him. The thought made her uncomfortable.
Thankfully, though, the subject had turned to more mundane topics, and not the strangeness of that day.
"I'm in public relations," she answered easily as she put a stopper in the wine bottle, then opened the Riesling. "I work for a company that's based in New York, but we recently opened an office in Los Angeles. It's a bit of a commute, but it's quite lovely here."
She canted her head. "So work brought you here, Rylee... what drew you to California, Charlie? The two of you both ending up here was coincidence, yes?"
