She met Rylee's gaze, trying to let a smile flicker over her face as some kind of an apology for bringing up the subject again. It was just a note, a stupid thing that had slipped out of her mouth.

Chewing quickly, she swallowed, glancing at Rylee to gauge how he was feeling. She really wanted Cat to like Rylee, and for Rylee to like Cat; perhaps she should have put some more thought into her words instead of just letting them fly loose like she usually did.
