Fee grinned at Charlie's assessment of how best to experience Missouri, but her smile faded when the other woman started talking about what Karin was going to eat. Fee reached under the table and squeezed Karin's hand in apology.
"Yeah, prosciutto is pretty fatty. Read: delicious." Fee nodded at her own menu, having decided on her own free-range, grass-fed toppings, leaving her sister's eating habits alone for now. Later, she'd needle her to take her vitamins and have a protein shake, even though she didn't drink them if she'd eaten a real meal.
When Karin brought up the Fourth of July episode, Fee looked up with an arched brow and a grin.
"Sorry I missed it. I always did like fireworks." She grinned at her sister, then at Rylee's story, nodding.
"Fireworks are illegal in Illinois - or at least, all the cool ones are. So as soon as our other sister and I figured out that it was possible to get M80s or Roman Candles or whatever, we always made it our personal mission to get some, and so obviously, it became Karin's personal mission to make sure we didn't! Or at least, didn't blow our heads off."
Fee laughed. "Good thing, too. I swear, that thing they say about teenagers missing a part of their brains? Yeah. We had that."
