He walked behind Max at a less eager rate--was it the sugar propelling the younger man along? He certainly seemed like he was in a hurry. Dominic casually glanced at the elevator button Max had pressed. A brown smudge in sharp contrast to its naturally clear, white color assaulted his vision. That couldn't have been there on his way down, could it? There was only one culprit, and that was decidedly the fingers of the individual he had just met.
The corners of Dominic's mouth turned down slightly. He was tidy out of habit and necessity, finding things in life to be much easier to handle when they happened to be orderly--even when he dressed casually, as he was now, there remained a sense of neatness about him. True, he wasn't the person that would have to remove the incriminating smudge, but still; the thought of someone else having to do it in the first place because of Max's unconscious (or was it?) action was none too an encouraging conclusion to their vending machine conversation. Dominic's attention shifted back to Max when the other spoke, seemingly unaffected by what he'd inadvertently done.
"Yeah, yeah, things generally of that nature." He blinked in response to Max's sudden interest in what he did for a living--before, in the vending machine room, they'd only been making small talk. Now the passing subject of his career choice had taken on a more pressing importance, and yet it didn't seem to deter Max any from consuming the M&M's he'd purchased.
"Suggestions are great, actually. The only news I've covered are things closer to home, you know, entertainment, like where to find the best, inexpensive places to take your children under ten to, so they don't drive you crazy." He was only half-joking. Dominic wasn't entirely aware of what exactly a LAN party was, but if it involved gaming of some sort, that'd definitely fall into the categories he generally ended up covering in his articles. But focusing on more active news would be fascinating, and hopefully not too uncomfortable.
"Where do you host these sessions at, usually?" The elevator dinged cheerfully, announcing its arrival as he asked his question, and the doors slid back to allow the two of them to enter. "I'm not too familiar with LAN parties." He motioned to the elevator with a nod, allowing Max to go first.
