"Fine, I promise I won't hit your friend," James replied grumpily. "But you stay here and we will go. We can take our food with us so that it's not a waste. I refuse to let you walk out of here as if this isn't your apartment, Alex."
He crossed his arms and looked down at his baby sister, raising an eyebrow as if to say try and argue, baby sis, you won't win. Then, as if to prove his point, James turned and went back to the table to gather his food. With his meal in his hands, he gave a look to Adam that signaled he should move and move immediately. He had given his sister no time limit of how long it would be that James would not be hitting Adam.
Going to his sister, James kissed her on the top of her head and pressed his forehead to hers. "I'm sorry, Alex. I'll make this up to you, okay? I love you, little one." He stuck out his bottom lip in a pout, trying to garner a smile from her before he took his leave.
