What James had not expected was the familiarity of Adam's hand in his. It caused him to pause and look back at his sisters friend, studying him seriously for a moment before turning his attention back to his sister.
James smiled at Alex and bit back any witty comebacks he had. For Alex, he would do just about anything, even keeping his jokes at bay, but Adam wasn't in the clear.
He stepped ahead of Adam, bumping into him purposely, and again there was that near spark. That memory of the dream was so livid and James craved for it again. But it was a dream, that was it, still the feelings and memories showed only by a momentary pause before James continued to glide across the floor and take the seat furthest from the door. He slipped into the chair, tipping it back on the back legs, and watched Adam with a blank expression, quick to glance away if Alex or Adam looked at James.
"Milkshakes... nice job, Alex," James said with a brief nod and a smile as he grabbed the cold drink. "All right, the In N' Out was a good idea."
