Last dance with Mary Jane, one more time to kill the pain
Who: Sean and Lucy
What: A fun time smoking
Where: Lucy's Apartment
When: Sometime in the evening
Warnings: drugs

Sean had felt bad about how overly eager he had been on the community forum, and he definitely felt like he was using Lucy, so much so that he almost didn't show to her apartment. Part of him felt like maybe this was a problem if he wanted it that badly, but really, he had just been excited, and really he didn't smoke that often, it was just guilt. Wracked with guilt though, Sean had gone to the store and picked up a box of cookies, the soft kind that was covered in bright blue icing. It didn't make up for his guilt, but it definitely helped. Part of him was also afraid that he'd knock on the door, and Samuel would answer the door with two cops at his side.

About two and a half hours after they had talked, Sean took the elevator up to Lucy's floor and knocked on the door, box of cookies in hand. He was dressed in flip flops, loose dark tan yoga pants that went down to the floor, and a simple brick red tee-shirt. He always looked like he was in his pajamas, but he did work as a yoga and meditation instructor. Dressing up for him was putting on a pair of non ripped jeans. Hell, sometimes dressed up was changing into a pair of non stinky yoga clothes, which is what he did to take the elevator up to Lucy's apartment.

She should just put a sign on the door that said "Welcoming Committee: Pot Edition" because this was becoming a habit. She didn't really mind. You always met the most wonderful people through random pot encounters. The conversations, while varied in quality, were always interesting. You could learn a lot about people when they weren't all tied up in reservations.

She got herself, the apartment, and the pot ready. She had a few hours, but she wasn't about to be caught off guard the way she was with Luc. She was going to be prepared this time.

Of course, all of her preparing was done within 20 minutes, so she was left sitting in her living room, staring at the pot that was just waiting, no, begging to be smoked. Well...it wouldn't hurt to get started a little early, would it? Of course not.

By the time Sean got there, Lucy was higher than a kite. She answered the door with glazed eyes and a big smile.

"Hi! Sean?" Even if it wasn't, he could come in anyway. Company sounded great right now.

Sean immediately noticed the glazed eyes and big smile, and couldn't help but smile himself. "Seems I have some catching up to do. You know, I never caught your name." Sean handed the cookies to Lucy, kind of glad she was high, things weren't awkward when high.

"It's Lucy," she replied, taking the cookies from him and stepping aside to let him in. She immediately began to dig into the cookies, ripping the package open with very little grace and taking one out to snack on.

She gestured towards the couch and the coffee table that had everything laid out. "Have a seat and help yourself."

"Nice to meet you Lucy." Sean sat down on the couch and looked at everything laid out on the coffee table. "You are certainly one prepared and supplied woman, I like that." He smiled and helped himself, rolling a joint if they weren't already rolled. He knew it wasn't the healthiest thing for your body, he was slowly killing himself through his lungs, which he definitely needed for work, and he really shouldn't be smoking since one of his best friends had gone way too far with drugs, but he just couldn't help himself every now and then. He rationalized it as everyone had at least one vice in the world, and at least his was natural. Sean lit up the joint and took a hit from it, offering it to Lucy. "Thanks for offering this by the way, that was amazing of you, considering I'm basically a stranger."

She shut the door and meandered slowly over to the couch, cookie in hand and already partially devoured. She plopped herself gracefully into one of the overstuffed arm chairs that were next to the couch and shrugged, studying her cookie.

"Everyone starts off a stranger, right? I mean, you don't stop being a stranger till you say hi. So why not say hi and give people something that will make them happy at the same time? It always makes a good impression if you make people happy!"

"See, now that is a fantastic outlook on life. Everyone is a stranger at first, so you might as well take that first leap , you never know who is going to be a friend, and anyone that shares their pot is instantly a friend in my book." Sean smiled and took a long drag from the joint. "You can have all of those cookies obviously Miss gracious hostess."

She beamed and took another cookie from the package. Her grandmother was always telling her she needed to eat more, that she was too skinny, so she took that as an invitation to indulge right now.

"Sharing is caring," she replied, lazing back into the over stuffed cushion. "And caring is important. People don't do that much anymore."

She didn't really agree with that. It was something she heard from her mother. When she said it though, people would nod and sigh in agreement, so it had to be somewhat true.

"Well anything of mine is officially yours Lucy, I mean that. I don't exactly have much though, so it's sort of an empty offer. All I have to my name right now is a twenty dollar bill and a fridge full of dying produce." The joint was in Sean's mouth more than it was out of it, he hadn't had any pot since he had gotten to Newport Beach and he hadn't realized how much he missed it. "Oh sure people still care, I just think that people are less inclined to show it now a days."

She looked at him over her cookie and grinned. "Thanks, but that's okay. I have plenty of stuff." Her parents and grandparents constantly unloaded various items on her when they visited. They always said it was there just in case. They were having a hard time letting go and letting her take care of herself. She didn't mind, really. It was sort of nice being taken care of.

She nibbled on her cookie and thought about what he said. "I guess. I don't know. No one wants to be nice anymore."

"I think a lot of people think that being nice is being weak, like being a pushover. I have to wonder how many people are nice because they think it's what they HAVE to do, verse how many people are nice because they just genuinely are."

She shrugged. She never thought about that. She took things at face value. If someone was being nice to her, then of course they were a genuinely nice person. She couldn't imagine someone being nice just for the sake of it. Being nice felt so inherent that faking it just didn't seem possible to her.

"I like to think everyone is nice because they are genuinely nice. It doesn't make sense to be otherwise."

"Well I LIKE to think that, that would make the world a totally lovely place, wouldn't it?" Sean took another long drag from the joint, pretty much completely high already, it had been awhile since he had smoked. "I mean, I know I'm nice just because I'm nice, and you seem nice just because you are nice, so at least we're... nice."

She curled deeper into the cushions and rested her head back, eyes closed. These chairs were extremely soft and comfortable, and she couldn't resist closing her eyes.

She sighed and shrugged again, her voice rather drowsy. "The world is totally nice. No one every pays attention to the nice stuff though." She covered her mouth as she yawned.

"The world IS totally nice. I'm so glad to have found someone else that can see that. Good for you Lucy, good for you." Oh yes, Sean was very, very high and he was very, very happy. Sean relaxed into his seat as well, resting his head back with a goofy smile. This was the life.

"Mmm," she said softly, her limbs languid and her mind fuzzy from weariness. That was one of the wonderful things about pot, it helped her sleep. It was a huge asset during chemo, when she was uncomfortable and sick. She had the hardest time getting to sleep. Marijuana was the only thing that really helped her settle.

"I think I'm gonna sleep now," she mumbled through a yawn. "You can let yourself out whenever."

"Of course, and thanks again. Once I get my supply, you're more than welcome to stop by any time so I can return the favor with something nicer than cookies." Sean got up before he fell asleep here, which he was totally about to do. "Night." He showed himself to the door, and let himself out, trying to lock it as he went out if that was possible.
