Who: Sheila and Dorian
What: Checking up and meeting.
Where: 307
When: Right after this
Warnings: ....Yeah. We'll see.

A conversation a few days before about neighborliness gave Sheila the slight reminder that she'd not been doing as well. Granted, she knew her own faults. Loyalty and keeping up with those around her was something she wasn't the best at - she moved on and got stuck in her own circle of things. Most people didn't appreciate this though. She tried to compensate for it when she remembered. A glance at the forums was enough to have her inquire after her noisy neighbor - even if she'd never really met him before.

First time for everything.

She grabbed a first aid kit compulsively, before heading down the hall. The door wasn't locked behind her, nor did she bother to change out of her pajamas. Even if she'd been in a nightgown it wouldn't have been a problem, but her capris suited her well enough. Outside of 307 she raised a fist and banged on the door. "DORIAN. IT'S SHEILA. OPEN UP." No need to beat around the bush.

Meanwhile, Dorian had been doing everything possible to keep from looking over at the foreboding stack of books that betrayed the denial of a whole month and a half of slacking off. So perhaps it might have been easier to just do it when it came due. He wouldn't have been left with a massive "to do" list, and an almost passing midterm grade. Of course, it was still easier to not worry about it at all...

The cabinet above the sink had became all the more tempting during the last week. How in the hell was he going to break the news to his moms back home? And how in the hell was he going to manage this when he couldn't concentrate on anything other than Thunderheart on AMC. And even that was difficult.

Needless to say, as he loafed around simply waiting for his books to read themselves and the movie to get to the damned point, the knock on the door sent him tumbling off the couch in a startled jump. He fell to the floor and groaned.

"It's open?" He didn't have a habit of leaving his door locked. Ever.

She jiggled the handle, at his reply finding that it was open. Strange. She would have still yelled anyway. Pushing it open with her upper arm, she ducked inside and shut the door behind her. Going into the apartment of a man she didn't know didn't strike her mind as stupid. Hell no. She was doing a good deed.

The messiness didn't bother too much and she picked her way towards the boy on the ground. She crouched down, balancing on her heels as she looked him over. Alright, she wasn't expecting him to be pretty. "You didn't finish your sentence," she accused again.

He stared up at her in disbelief. She'd come all the way over for that? "Sheila?"

Dorian hadn't begun to place faces to name around here yet; neighbors were people who made noise, some of it really entertaining, but he hadn't actually met anyone. And...Jesus on a cross, were they all this smashing, or had he just gotten really lucky with the one hot neighbor? He really wanted it to be commonality. Even if the world didn't always work like that.

If ever.

"I--uh." Smooth, Dorian. He pushed himself up off the floor and shrugged. "You came over for that? Who has the time to pay attention to things like that?"

"In 301. Resident storyteller." Her smile was large and proud. Her opinion of her profession was ridiculously high - no matter what any Paris-wannabes or Grumpy-Liars thought of it. "We talked on the forums. Minutes ago."

She crawled back slightly, holding up her first aid kit to him. "Sentences are important. The modern world doesn't like incomplete stories. Or sentences." She shrugged, going on. "Someone has to pay attention. So why did you break off?"

Laughing at the sight of it, he sat up and pushed the first aid kit back at her. He'd seen worse than falling off the couch. Nothing a little alcohol wouldn't fix, right?

He pointed at the television in response to her question. "Val Kilmer. The production quality's terrible, but that never stopped him. That, and um...I have trouble staying focused."

And with that, he shot a glare to the pile sitting next to the couch. Damned books were going to bury him alive.

...What a horrible way to die.

She gave him a once over - eyes lingering no more than they should have - before she shrugged. Fine then. It was tucked under her arm, head canting to the side as he explained. Another movie person - apparently into bad movies? "You should talk to Chris," she said, nodding. "You might find common ground." And wasn't that nice and neighborly of her?

Pushing herself to her feet, she headed over to the pile of books. Nothing very interesting to her - "College student?" She looked back, unable to help the curiosity. "What are you studying? Enjoying it?" The smile said she guessed he didn't.

Dorian rolled his eyes. "Cute. It's a little biology, a little botany. It'd be better if I could just show them I knew what I was doing instead of having to write all these countless bullshit essays that don't mean anything. I need answers You know, help. Not a textbook. But NO. No, Dorian, the wine gods, or whoever, would be very disappointed, because apparently you're a fuckup."

"If you break off your sentences, essays would be a problem," she said thoughtfully. She grabbed one of the top books, flipping through it before wrinkling her nose. "What do the wine gods have to do with it? Usually there's one and he's a fun guy. Crazy guy, but meant to be fun."

"I own a vineyard," he said with a sigh. "That's what. And he must be a real riot, what with all the plants dying," he glowered.

The book snapped shut and Sheila grinned. "Really? You must have really pissed Bacchus off then. He'd probably encourage wine growing." She glanced at the book then, before putting it down. "What're you doing here and not there then, if they're dying?"

Dorian was a little puzzled as to what he'd said that caused a reaction like that. It didn't sound like pissing off a god was really anything to grin about at all. "That's what school's for," he explained. "I've...well, we've tried everything, but nothing seems to help."

Any mention of mythology was enough to send Sheila into a chipper mood. Granted, she rarely was in a bad one. There was never a reason to be. She pushed on and ignored those things. "Huh," she said thoughtfully. "Well, a little knowledge can go a long way." She paused, then looked up, utterly serious. "You could try sacrificing something."

"Sacrificing something?" Dorian asked, horror-struck. "Look, that might have been great like a billion years ago or something, but I don't really like the chances that I'd end up in a bad Grindhouse flick. Probably dead."

The term 'Grindhouse' went right over her head. It was unimportant and she didn't really care what it was. She shrugged, letting her arms cross below her chest. "Sacrificing gets you out of trouble. Unless you're someone like...oh, Agamemnon." Another shrug. She didn't expect that name to make sense. "More often than not you benefit from it."

"Until it goes wrong, and you end up dead! You've never seen a horror movie in your life, have you?"

An eyebrow rose. Really, people overreacted. It was just a sacrifice. "And what's wrong with being dead?"

"Lack of music, movies, people, parties...booze," he replied, his hands waving about in earnest. Honestly, what wasn't wrong with being dead? It sounded like a total...downer. "I could keep going."

"Depends on the afterlife you believe in," Sheila said simply. Her arms recrossed and a foot tapped. "And there's reincarnation too, which means the whole cycle just begins again. You could go back or fix things, try for another chance..." She shrugs it off. "Not my preferred belief."
