Dov felt increasingly uncomfortable as he felt eyes boring holes into him from across the room, whether it was just because of that or because of the conversation, he couldn't tell. Maybe it was both. He couldn't help feeling offended, too- none of this was his fault. He hadn't even been born when any of this happened, why take it out on him?
"Okay-- I get it. I was just fuckin' wonderin'. Sometimes that shit's pretty obvious even for kids, alright?" Dov sighed. "Look, I dunno what made her leave. Or- at least I dunno why she decided my dad was good enough to even give the fuckin' time 'a day." He had a bad feeling about this, like if he didn't have more to tell he was going to get booted out on his ass. "The only thing my dad ever had was money- and not good money either. Didn't have the brains to not get caught so he ended up fuckin' us all over. I don't like thinkin' that money was all she cared about, but I don't see anything else fuckin' redeeming about the bastard."
He wasn't going to lie- this hurt. All of it hurt. He'd just lost his mother, and now he was finding out just how little he actually knew about her. Breathing in, he tilted his head back, looking up toward the ceiling.
"I didn't even know any relatives on her side. They just didn't exist. My relatives were on dad's side and that was it. I don't think she ever even told me straight where she was from. Funny, huh? I didn't even fuckin' think about it being weird then."
