It was safe to say this wasn't going anywhere near the way Dov had hoped it would. Maybe he just watched too many movies, but he'd kind of hoped for something a little more... heartfelt. Or at least less hostile. He felt like he was proving himself innocent instead of trying to reach out to his sister, and he didn't like it. Folding his arms over his chest, he waited in silence, leaning against the door jamb.
Dov watched as the dog began sniffing him, starting at his sneakers and travelling upward. In any other situation he would've laughed and patted its head, but he felt too awful to do anything of the sort. His stomach hurt, he felt tense, he wished he'd never even bothered coming out here. It was just a distraction, really. He still had to do so much back home.
For one, he had an entire house to pack up- but where was he going to put everything? He had all of his mother's possessions that hadn't been passed on to other people, not to mention all of his things. Then he had to sell the house... With no idea how to do so. It was too big for just him, and besides- he didn't want to live in Catskill anymore anyway. He didn't know where he wanted to go. He was lost.
Looking up as she called to him from inside, Dov only shrugged. "Well... I dunno, I mean- for one I'm kinda curious as to uh... Who you are. I mean I've got a sister all of a sudden and I know nothin' about ya. And... I kinda wanna know what exactly happened, ya know? I just feel like... my parents were lyin' to me my whole life and I wanna know what they weren't tellin' me." He swallowed hard. "And you've got her locket, right?"
