"I might, huh?" His eyes flicked down, watching her knuckles whiten as she clutched the weights. Something had hit a nerve, and plucking at that resonant chord was proving entirely too fun to pass up. He hadn't had a good argument since before his suspension from work; even the few neighbors he'd passed in the halls had been pleasant. He'd almost forgotten how much he missed this. "I do work as much as I talk, hard as it may be to believe, so I stay pretty busy. You just caught me in some down time. Lucky for both of us, right?"
His lips pursed dramatically, as if some humorous thought had come to him then. He drummed his fingertips at the corner of his mouth, thinking for a moment. "Besides, you look young as hell. I don't hit girls, and hitting little ones seems even less appealing."
