"Then make one," she replied, taking his box of Wheat Thins and ripping it open, eager to start breaking off pieces of cracker to use as supports. She was operating under a time limit. She didn't know how much time she had, exactly, but she knew this had to be completed fast. Not doing so would be viewed as failure.
"You can use a napkin as a flag. Make that, too." This was a great idea she'd had. Having two people involved would make the work go so much faster. The fact that she did not know this man or whether or not he could perform this task of great importance mattered little. She would work with what she was given.
She speared a fry on the end of a Wheat Thin stick and beamed. Perfect! It wasn't as sturdy as a tooth pick, but it would work! Good thing fries weren't heavy. Now she'd just have to make sure she wasn't heavy handed when working with her new medium.
"What do you know about ship building?" Maybe she'd get lucky and he would know more than she did, which was absolutely nothing. It was hard not to know more than she did on this subject. She'd built popsicle stick rafts before, but they had fallen apart within minutes of setting sail on the ocean. She was hoping her french fry concoction would be able to withstand a little more. Hoping being the operative word there.
