Julian eased the car into motion, driving it smoothly in the manner of someone who knew exactly where they were going but was in no rush to get there. "Well you're in luck in living near it," he replied. "Pax Letale is beachfront property. Maybe take a sick day every once in awhile and just go lounge on the beach? I know I need to work on my tan," he finished jokingly, shooting Vanessa a toothy grin. One hand lingered on the wheel while the other rested along the window line of the car door.
"Must've been quite the culture shock, moving from the east to the west. Only spent a few days in New York myself, seeing the sights like any tourist, sad to say I never ventured as far south as Florida. Can't really beat the Golden State, if you asked my opinion; how are you finding it so far?" He relaxed into the conversation easily, finding Vanessa's presence to be perfectly welcoming, but he found that to be the case with most if not all women. His wife would certainly agree that he had no trouble with them, despite his insistence that looking was not touching.
