Rylee was intending on going to Charlie's apartment and seeing if she would like to see a movie. Just something fun and casual, so what if he would silently tell himself that it was nearly equivalent to a date, the point was that they would be out together. He had a message for her as well. After talking to his mother, she wished Rylee would convey her happiness that they were not only living in the same apartment complex but friends again. She also offered to mail Charlie her favorite cookies.
When the elevator stopped on the second floor Rylee let out a sigh of relief. It had been making that groaning noise again that made Rylee wonder if it was about to break. If he was to the second floor he could always escape, if he got to the first then surely someone would hear he was stuck inside. His anxiety was written on his face as a man slipped into the elevator beside him. Glancing at the man he looked over his odd assortment of goods. He looked like he was prepared to beat up someone with the different weaponry or maybe he was over paranoid like Rylee was.
What Rylee wasn't suspecting was the man heading down the hall towards Charlie's apartment. He continued towards her apartment, thinking that surely he was going elsewhere, but when the man stopped outside of his best friends door Rylee immediately felt a twist of possessiveness develop in his gut. Who was this man standing outside Charlie's door? With a bat and nun-chucks no less? Rylee had a concealed carry permit for California but rarely carried in the apartment complex but at this moment, he wished he had his gun on him- just so that he could adjust it or something to make this other man know he was carrying. Maybe scare him a little.
Can I help you? Rylee almost allowed his sense of shock to appear on his face but fought to keep it blank. "I was thinking of asking you the same question," Rylee commented, his voice even and deep. He looked over the man, Rylee had more muscle, he was probably stronger than him, but something inside of Rylee's brain was telling him to calm down and respect this man while Rylee's more southern brain told him to show that Charlie was his.
"I'm here visiting my..." Rylee wanted to say girlfriend, wanted to lie and make it clear that whoever this person was, Rylee had more of a right to be standing outside of Lee's door. But he couldn't lie and with a slight blush on his cheeks, his eyes glancing to the ground, he finished his question. "I"m visiting my friend."
