He nodded in answer to her question, following close at her side. His hand had slipped away from her arm as they walked, the distance between them growing to something more comfortable and less motivated by that initial flight response. With the imminent danger now past, had Adam known the thrust of her thoughts, he may well have agreed to go back with her; as it was, they walked on, each of them lost to their own quiet musings.
His eyes flicked to hers at the mention of the shop. After a brief moment of consideration, he raised one shoulder in an airy sort of shrug. "Up to you," he said. "I was just killing time. I didn't really intend to buy anything, but I like looking." He gave a quiet, self deprecating chuckle. "What brings you out here?"
