Perfect. He was playing right into his hands. Of course, Luc was acting like he was going to be the only winner in this game - when Joaquin was going to make a tidy little profit for himself. Maybe learn a thing or two even. It was mostly just for sheer personal satisfaction that Luc was going along with this. That, and he'd always been a pay it forward kind of guy. Joaquin had talent and Luc had money. And while he wasn't going to singlehandedly fund a complete stranger's artistic endeavors - he was more than willing to make a generous donation towards it. Maybe several, if it suited him.
"I'd like to commission two paintings from you - but not like these," he said after he'd ordered the next round - and he handed one off to Joaquin without even bothering to ask first (not in a rude manner, just more.. assertive than anything). Because any business proposal Luc made was always done over a drink. Didn't necessarily mean Joaquin had to drink it - he could just hold it for all Luc cared - it was just the principle of having one in-hand for what was coming next.
"I want two city skylines at night. One of Los Angeles and one of Las Vegas. Both of them very dark but bright at the same time, y'know? Because those two cities are my homes." He smiled a little, continuing once he'd taken a sip from his fresh glass. "I want them for my bedroom - the bigger, the better." He chuckled under his breath and shook his head at himself. "I have two walls of space I need filled. I know it probably isn't in your comfort zone, but.." Pause as he swirled the scotch around with the ice in his glass. "I'd be willing to offer you.. oh, say.. five grand? Half up front? But.. you have to throw in those two paintings you showed me." Way more than fair. Way more.
He knew it was well over what he could have offered - and what Joaquin would probably have taken - but it was the way Luc liked to do things. Fuck around and tapdance, acting like he wasn't into it - and then go big and go home. Luc had been thinking of what he was going to do with all the empty wall space in his bedroom - he just wasn't sure about where to start looking for what he was thinking of. The room itself was mostly blacks and charcoals, with some white thrown in to accent - and he wanted something that matched but would bring a sort of vibrancy to it. The neon and lights of Vegas came to mind, and Los Angeles wasn't far behind that little idea. So, why the hell not commission it and get exactly what he wanted? See? Everybody won in Luc's games.
