Lily grinned as she stepped back from the oven, happy that Tanya was showing interest. "Cherry tomatoes drizzled with olive oil, fresh garlic, red pepper flakes, thyme, and some other spices. But I think you're smelling the peppers and thyme as well."
Her face became a little more serious as she considered her history with her sibling and that living with Max seemed simply natural after everything they had gone through. She wondered, briefly, if she should allow this information to be discussed with her neighbor but then she realized that she wouldn't really lose anything if she were to be honest. "Our mother died when we were children so I tried to take care of my brother as much as I could. Max and I have been together for years and lived with an assortment of relatives until we were both adults. He can be messy but it's normalcy to have him around. It'd be weird not to have him close by."
