Charlie made no response to Karin's retreating form, instead content to put her attention on the half-emptied box of fireworks at her feet. She did, however, favor Rylee with a long, sarcastic glare.
"You know what I'm gonna do with these sparklers? Light 'em up in your apartment - do whatever they call it, aging or somethin', on those home improvement shows," she muttered teasingly in reply, kneeling down once more to dig out yet another large and loud explosive.
The two friends carried on for another hour until the entire box had been emptied, the parking lot smelling of chemicals and burnt cardboard when one firework accidentally ruptured. Charlie claimed factory incompetence, but the fire extinguisher took care of the problem. Once the entertainment was gone, though, the two friends wandered back inside for food.
