His eyes were fixed on her hands as she opened the envelope, head tilted slightly to the side when she held it up to look at with the light. He had thought that she would want to open it herself, so when he was asked to do so, a bit of surprise came over him. But Simon didn't argue, instead merely taking the folded paper from her, pulling her just a bit closer as he held it in both hands so they could both see.
There might have been a slight shake to his hands when he unfolded the letter, eyes sweeping over each line for the part that meant something to them both. And there, near the middle of the page, it sat.
They were related. They were twins.
Simon swallowed hard and turned slightly, kissing her temple lightly. "I told you so," he said softly, closing his eyes as he let out a breath he hadn't even realised he had been holding.
