Luckily Samuel appeared immune to such things. In truth, even if he hadn't found the art of war so fascinating - and therefore worthy of study and interest even in its outdated manifestations - it was difficult for Samuel to pass judgment on a hobby in the relative mainstream. It was a far cry from the strange pastimes some of his friends and fellow Soldiers had enjoyed, to say the least, and indeed was far more wholesome than many of Samuel's own extracurricular activities, both now and in the past.
"Sure," he said, nodding sincere agreement. "Beer will take the edge off most of the people I'd see there-" He threw up a hand. "No offense, Eckholm. And God knows I'd enjoy the explosions well enough. Been too long since I heard a good one." He pursed his lips, glancing up toward the ceiling, an intentionally childish look of nostalgic contemplation crossing his face. "A couple months, at least. Orange County's a fun place to work."
