Karin gave a sad little smile, a shadow of its usual self. All the same, she put on a brave face, determined to hold a stoic line so long as her sister could see. It was easier to do so knowing the decision had been made, that this unknown island and its inexplicable pull would soon be explored - and, she hoped, put at last to rest. "If it's only that," she said, "I plan to enjoy their private beaches before heading home. Maybe see what's in one of those pool houses that's bigger than Mom and Dad's entire house."
She shifted her weight, her gaze darting restlessly about the still-filling room. "I'll email you my shift schedule. You'll let me know when you can go?"
