Cat looked at Charlie with some concern. There was nothing detectably wrong, as far as she could tell, but clearly, Charlie was in distress. The expression on her face was telling enough, and of course, the gesture of raising her hand to her ear. It seemed as though she was hearing something - only that something was not Cat's voice.
"Are you all right, Charlie?" she asked, moving forward to reach out to the other woman. She spoke more loudly, the hum of conversation in the room preventing her from drawing too much attention to them. "Do you need help?"
