Lily sat up straight and rubbed her hands on her bare legs. "I guess it isn't anything too serious if they just have us standing around down here. Maybe they're making us come down here for safety reasons, don't want anyone killing themselves on the stairs or anything." She stretched out her legs and let her feet drop to the floor, making a smacking noise with her flip-flops.
She looked at her brother and smiled again, reaching out and messy with his curls that had always been dark compared to her strawberry blond, even when they were little he was always the dark to her light. "So how are classes, Max? Are you doing well with them? We should have a nice big dinner some Friday to celebrate moving in here. We haven't even had a real meal together since the move." She gave his hair a final ruffle with her hand then a gentle pat before returning her hand to her lap. It hadn't been very long that they had been living together before deciding to move to this new apartment but Lily was happy to have Max in her life, even if they didn't see one another often. They had been through so much as children and it was strange for her to continue on with day to day activities and not have him be present. Things seemed more normal when he was around.
She closed her eyes, leaning her head back and letting out a tired sigh. With a groggy voice Lily continued, "If they don't turn the lights on soon enough, well, I'm about to make you my pillow."
