"Not an extended period, no," she said, finally straightening up with some regret, giving Jack a final little scratch. What time she'd spent in Germany had been brief and blurry, adding up to maybe a total of two or three weeks over the course of a year. And at that time, from the look of her, Charlie wouldn't have been old enough to be traveling in the circles Cat had been - after all, Cat barely had been herself.
"It was back in '96." She smiled slightly. "The memory's a bit faded."
Her eyes flickered toward the deeper part of the darkness, and it made her wonder. Even so, she turned back to Charlie, her curiosity not yet sated.
"So what had you in Germany? How long were you there?"
