OOC: don't worry about being slow! but yes weekends are the best; and disregard my million posts, can't reply to save my life
Jack's tail thumped the floor a little quicker, showing his attitude toward the attention. He was perfectly content with this newcomer, as the dog had very simple standards toward the two-legged folk: scratches and treats rounded out the list nicely for the canine.
Charlie as well made a mental note of gratitude for coming into contact with someone, for once, who didn't make her feel like she needed to prove herself. She'd always claim that she didn't feel that way, but just thinking about the topic proved feelings on it. Adjusting her position and releasing one hand from Jack's collar, she crossed it over her middle to wrap her hand around her left elbow. Had she met this woman before? She was from Europe, maybe she'd been in Iraq, or Germany. Faces flashed before Charlie's eyes, but she couldn't place this woman's amongst any of them. Then again it was dark, but in the sparse light offered by the moon and the surrounding echo of flashlights that she noticed in her peripheral vision, she felt she could make out the major details.
It dawned a bit on her that there were others now gathering in the lobby (hence the sudden influx of flashlights), but in the darkness it was impossible to really see any of them. Charlie put them out of her mind, choosing instead to focus on Cat.
"No," she started, slowly as though she were still in the middle of deciding to answer. "Missouri. Lil' bit of a change, but can't complain." More conversation was being eked out of her, a sure sign of...something. Her fears were being allayed by Jack's presence, though certainly before she headed back to her apartment she'd have him search the space before entering. She didn't normally have such an issue - but the lights going out definitely set off a panic alarm in her head. She'd simply gotten very good at hiding it.
