“Well it’s nice to meet you, even if it is in such circumstances,” Rylee replied and felt a surge of pride when he realized that he nearly sounded calm. The meditation mantra he did every morning must have been finally working. But quickly his nerves returned in a rush as this man, Philip, referred to the two women standing off by the concierge’s.
Jack was there as well and a hint of a smile rose on Rylee’s lips. The creature with fangs wasn’t all that bad. But Rylee rolled his shoulders, his eyes lingering on Charlie for a moment longer than they did on the other woman and a surge of possessiveness emerging in his gut. He took a few ‘calming’ breaths and felt his nerves calm again. “The woman with the dog is Charlie,” Rylee replied with a steady deep voice. “I’ve known her since we were kids.” He made no other comment about her; there was no need to. Rylee secretly thought that Charlie looked very good from this angle, all angles in fact, but he wasn’t going to just share that with this man. Hell, he didn’t even share his opinion with Charlie herself. “I don’t know who the other woman is though…”
He looked at Philip and smiled. “How long have you been a resident here? Aside from Charlie I don’t know anyone else.”
