Shae completely ignored all of Ren's questions and for a second there it looked like his friend was going to lose his balance. He almost reached out to help him, but thought better of it. Shae didn't seem like the kind of guy who would really welcome that, and certainly not from his skinny Asian friend. So Ren held back and watched as Shae rested against his furniture.
Ren was a little taken aback when Shae hit his hand away from the book. He placed his offended hand onto his upper arm and crossed both of them as Shae opened the book to a page that Ren had almost forgotten. He stared down at it, speechless for a while. His eyes had widened initially and he felt a moment of panic that Shae had seen the personal drawing that was obviously an impression of him. It felt a little like someone had found his journal and decided to read the whole thing before returning it to confront the author.
How could he explain something like that? He had started it after the first night they had met at the bar. Could he explain that Shae had become sort of a muse to him? Would he find that strange or weird? And there there was the fact that the drawing was naked. Would it sound stupid if he said that he normally drew figures that way if he was working with only memory or his imagination? Cause then he would add clothes after he was finished. Of course that would mean he would need to finish it. There probably a few pictures, probably mostly of girls, that he had given up on. Lots of naked pictures in there.
His felt the heat in his face from the blush and swallowed. He rubbed his upper arm and then tried to meet Shae's eyes. "Ah, well..I, I mean, I," He tried to stammer out a response and ended up glancing away from Shae with his eyes and bit his lip.
"Uh, well I'm an artist and that, well it's just what it looks like, a drawing of you, I guess." And I'm also lame, he thought to himself. "How long have you had my book? You know I've been looking for it, right?"
