Who: Ren and Kami
What: People watching and drawing
Where: the Lobby
When: mid afternoon
Warnings: Probably none
Notes: Ren lost his sketch book (aherm Shae, you should return it sometime), so he's had to get a new one and is trying to fill it up with pictures again.

Ren walked down the stairs. He really preferred them to the elevator. He wasn't the type to have a distrust of machines, but that one seemed to have a mind of it's own deciding when and where it would open its doors with what could only be considered a human like consideration. Meaning it would work when it damn well pleased. So stairs were fine for Ren. They were less temperamental and more functional in his mind.

He looked around the lobby. It wasn't terribly crowded, but it seemed like it was a nice day outside for the middle of winter. He shook his head as he sat down on the circular couch and crossed his legs. He would never get used to these non-winter days in the dead middle of winter. He was used to snow covering the ground and it being packed high back home. His father always hated snow, but he and his sisters had always had fun running out and playing during snow days when there wasn't any school It was odd not needing his jacket at this time of the year.

He pulled out his new sketch book from under his arm. He had given up trying to find the old one. He had torn up his apartment looking for it. It had simply disappeared and he had been forced to go down the art store and pick up a new one. He needed to fill it up. Too much blank paper bothered him for some reason. He took out his sketching pencil which had been behind his ear and set the new clean book in his lap opened to a too white page as he clenched a kneaded eraser in his other hand, softening it so it would be easier to mold into exact shapes needed as he drew.

He looked up and picked a subject objectively and started to draw, making mark after mark on the white sheet quickly, dirtying it until the graphite strokes gradually started to resemble the subject. As his subject was obviously not stationary he had to work quickly, and he took no notice that he was obviously staring very intensely, but kept drawing and erasing marks that didn't make him happy.

"Mm, thank you. It's a good thing for my work clothes that there are so many guys in this place willing to pick up my extra food." Kami paused to watch his hand move over the paper, returning his focus to the drawing after his reassurance. When he didn't look up again, she eased herself upwards to sit straighter. She paused and, not hearing any objections, she absently reached up to push one hand through her heavy, dark hair. It seemed like he didn't need her to stay as still anymore.

Hopefully, though, he still needed her somehow.

Frowning at the stupid thought, Kami unfolded herself from the chair and slipped over to the round couch Ren had claimed for himself. She moved quietly, an unconscious grace in her movements again as if soothed by Ren's attention and presence. She hesitated for a moment and then claimed a spot beside him. She was careful not to jar his arm and resisted the urge to look over his shoulder at the work developing. Artists didn't generally like to be crowded. Instead, she closed her eyes and rested back against the upright portion of the strange retro couch.

A small sigh that sounded an awful lot like contentment escaped her parted lips and Kami almost smiled. She had gauged it just right; she was not close enough to disrupt Ren's sketching but just close enough to feel his body heat. The reassurance of another living, breathing person went a long way and it took will-power to keep from moving to touch him more fully. "I promise I'm not looking," she whispered. "Only if you want to show me, okay?"
