Cara sat down in the place he indicated on the sofa. She crossed her legs in a smooth, ladylike gesture, remaining perched on the edge with perfect posture. "Wine would be lovely," she answered warmly as she settled into place.
The interior of his home surprised her -- and, yet, she had expected as much. As much as she wanted to be away from New York City, it was comforting to find someone whose class -- and tastes -- were similar to her own.
As he prepared her drink, she studied the paintings from her seat. Once he stepped into the room, she murmured approvingly, "I've been looking at your paintings. I have only a passing familiarity with art, but... They're impressive. How long have you been collecting?"
