"Bottom cabinet to your right." Kami shifted her weight abruptly so she could use one bare foot to indicate the proper cabinet. "I have to keep some things low or else I'm always dragging the foot-stool around, you know?" she offered in explanation when Pru opened the door to find a strange assortment of cooking containers and implements. "Oh, and the milk is to drink, by the way. There's something about drinking milk while making cookies. We'll have to test the first batch, anyway."

Then she pointed at the oven. "Do you think you could get that started on pre-heating?" she asked. "I have the racks set up already but I didn't want to start it going until you got here. I'll just get the dry ingredients out and set up the sieve. Then you can help me measure out."

In her element, Kami was just as self-assured and genially bossy as the tiniest, most fluffy dictator in the world.
