If Shae's expression reflected his confusion, Kami's told much the same story. Sheet still clutched around her naked shoulders, she sat straighter and twisted to eye Jack warily again. She looked half-ready to hit him again, increasingly unamused by his jokes. "And we're all just naked in my bed because it seemed like a good idea?" she asked in disbelief. Her dark eyes went from wide to narrowed as she studied him with renewed suspicion. She started to ask him if he was just saying that to make them all feel better but something stopped the words in the back of her throat.
Patience. It's just his way. He always did like his little moments.
Kami gave her head a little shake. Now she was hearing voices, too. The morning was just getting better and better. Opting to focus on the more concrete issues at hand, Kami reached out to grab one of the towels from Jack's prone body and, with practiced ease, drew it beneath the sheet before squirming and wriggling to get it neatly wrapped and tucked around her curvaceous little figure. Then she dropped the sheet back to the bed and moved to kneel, sitting back on her heels and looking from one man to the other. Her hands smoothed at the towel covering her for a moment in a nervous fidget before she shook her head again and slithered from the bed. Padding bare-foot to the closet, she retrieved a short, silky robe and tied it over top of the towel.
"Alright," she finally sighed. Another swell of captured half-memory hit her as she looked at Jack and Shae, one sprawled, the other sitting. She closed her eyes against any trace echoes of warm skin and salty taste. "So what the hell did happen? Because I feel..."
Kami bit off her words as she felt her face flush warm and pink. Opening her eyes again, she forced herself to look from one face to the other. She waited for further explanation, worrying her lower lip to raw fullness.
