As Shae prepared the meal, Nina did her best impression of a house plant, trying to stand in a corner where she didn't get in the way, all the while wondering if Shae hadn't understood the intentions behind the tupperware container. Although, he was clearly from the South and one thing her mother succeeded at is pounding the idea (though not the practice) of Southern Hospitality into her head.
Watching Shae settle himself in, Nina gingerly took the proffered bowl and looked around for a table, or possibly a chair. Finding none, she perched on the edge of the couch and sniffed the gumbo, not suspiciously, just curiously. (It seemed that Nina practiced cautiousness and hesitance in most everything.) Taking a wary bite, Nina chewed thoughtfully and then swallowed.
"This is really good!" she said, trying not to sound too surprised. "Did you make this?"
