[OPEN] You Can't Always Get What You Want
Who: Linnaea, Rick, and OPEN
What:  Linnaea's apartment/yard sale.  Rick drops in to raid ALL OF THE STUFF, perhaps other people want to get in on it, hm? (ref to Naea's forum post )
Where: Room 206
When: November 8th, evening
Warnings:  NONE YET.  UNLESS SOMEONE GETS DRUNK ON THE SEGWAY AND DOES TERRIBLE THINGS (please do).

"Yo?"  KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.   So goes the lovely start to any woman's a quiet evening.

"Hey?  Rick here?"  He tried again, knocked solidly on the door a few more times.  His neighbor Pia, as well as Kami and a few other friends, could tell stories about his insistent manner when it came to being let into places, like a rain-battered dog moaning and whining to be let in.  Actually he looked a bit like a wet dog too, having just showered and not bothered to do much for his wet hair than towel it and shove it out of his face, so water dripped onto the back of his black wife-beater on occasion.  He had jeans on with a large leather wallet sticking out of his back pocket, and battered flip-flops that possibly existed since ancient Greek times.  Maybe a leftover from the apartment switch-a-roo, but more likely an indicator of a post-college bachelor's lifestyle.

"Lina-ee?"  he called.  Reading a name over a computer was never exactly the same as saying it out loud for the first time, but he tried it anyways.  "Here cause of the ad.  I got Benjamins if you got nice stuff in there."

"'Lina-ee'?" Naea glanced up from her book and quirked an eyebrow. That... definitely wasn't what she expected to hear, but if he was buying David's crap, then he could call her whatever he wanted. She padded over barefoot to the door and unlocked it, poking her head out with a smile. "Lin-ay-ah. Naea to everybody else. Nice to meet you Rick."

She looked him over once. Seemed nice enough, but for some reason rang of frat boy. Naea smoothed her The Who t-shirt down over her shorts a bit. "It's actually all still upstairs. I have a couple days left to get rid of it all." She moved one of her pigtails to the side, reaching for her keys. "You ready?"

"Lin-ay-ah. Oh yeah, I was born ready." He stepped backwards into the middle of the hallway in the interest of giving her space, but he was clearly just containing the urge to look into her new apartment. He managed a smile at her instead, like he totally wasn't thinking of any peeping.

Her smile had encouraged him anyways - he instantly got a good impression of Naea, even if he previous thought she sounded dry when she posted her ad. A lot of people were just better in person, he supposed. "You got everything else down from the old place alright, then?"

Locking the door behind her, Naea stepped out into the hall, twirling her keys around on her index finger. "Oh, definitely. Some great helpers in this building, I tell ya." Still barefoot, she lead the way to the elevator, which seemed to work just fine for her. She wasn't particularly interested in climbing the stairs tonight and was pretty sure Rick wasn't interested, either.

She hit the button and waited for the bell to ding at them. "I take it you need a couple of suits or are you all about riding the Segway?" Naea looked up at him with something of a grin. She was mostly excited the asshole was going to be out of her life once and for all.

"Need to see the suits, which I guess is boring as hell." The door to the elevator opened, and Rick got the floor button before Naea could. "You know, I've never been on a Segway before, only seen it on TV. Or at the mall with the cops going around on them - doesn't seem like it'd go fast enough to run down someone though. This guy, did he ever let you try it?"

"Hey, they're nice suits. As far as the Segway..." Naea shrugged as the car reached the floor of their destination. "I never really bothered to mess with it. I think it involves leaning forward a little."

She produced the key to the apartment, unlocked the door and swung open the door while flipping the light on. "Have at it. Most of the stuff is in the bedroom--down the hall and on the left." Some weird weight lifted from Naea's shoulders. It wasn't all gone--not yet, but the failed relationship was giving up its ghost, all the same.

"Hey, looks like I'm just in time for the yard sale!" The cheery announcement just outside the door was almost immediately followed by Jack's head poking into the apartment. Grinning hugely, he straightened and stepped in, not waiting for an invitation. "Rick, buddy!" he greeted the other man. He knew Rick was here for the suits, which was a shame, because from the sound of it this David guy has expensive tastes, and he quietly hoped they fit him better than his old Disney acquaintance. One can never have too many nice suits.

He then smiled down at the petite woman and offered her his hand. "And you must be Linnaea. I'm Jack, Jack Mallory, from 305," he purred warmly. "Thanks for offering us the chance to help you clear away the bad memories. Anything for a fellow denizen, especially one in need."

Rick smiled. Jack had just a great way of introducing himself, and Rick could never help but be charmed by the guy's manner. "Getting a pile of cash from us should help too. Hopefully, if the pickings are good."

He grinned to Jack, Naea. "Guys, want to head straight to the bedroom then?"

Oh. Jack. She remembered him fairly well from the Halloween fiasco, chasing Kami around, drunk as could be and wallowing in some five-gallon bucket of self-pity. Linnaea wondered if he really paid attention to who she was at the party when he begged Kami for a dance. Forcing a natural smile (which was always something that came to her when she needed it most), Naea shook Jack's hand. "Yeah. No problem. I'm just glad to be rid of it to tell you the truth. I'd have a bonfire, but the city frowns upon that."

She jerked her head towards the hallway. "First door on the left. Suits, shirts and ties are in the closet. Shoes at the bottom if you want 'em." The apartment was, by all accounts, devoid of her belongings. David was all that was left in this place. As much as she desperately wanted to keep the apartment--the space alone made her feel like a queen, the affordability was out of her league.

Maybe someday, Your Majesty, thought Naea, rather wistfully.

"I'm sure Rick and I will be able to help you get rid of it, one way or another," Jack replied, shooting a wink at the other man. There was something vaguely familiar about Linnaea, but for the life of him he couldn't put his finger on it. Shrugging inwardly, he decided he must have seen her around the building at one point. Yeah, that was it. Even though he had the sneaking suspicion he'd seen her someplace else.

Clapping his hand on Rick's shoulder, they headed down the hall to the indicated room. "Good call coming here, buddy," he grinned. "I always find the best stuff at estate sales. Hey, I'll even give you first crack at the suits if you leave me the ties and the watches. You never get a second chance to make a first- Oh my god, you weren't kidding." He glanced at Naea over his shoulder, the look in his eye that of a seven-year old who'd just seen the Best Toy Ever.

Jack was, of course, referring to the Segway.
